IA Senator Grassley Protects Blue Cross
Iowa Senator Grassley is in the protection racket. Grassley said, “”There’s a real feeling that that’s subterfuge to get around pre-existing conditions,” Grassley told Iowa Public Radio in a story that was published Wednesday. “If it is subterfuge and it has the effect of annihilating the pre-existing condition requirement that we have in the existing bill, then obviously I would object to that.” The only thing that saves Blue Cross high priced employer-group coverage, their cash cow, is not allowing low-cost alternatives to become legal in Iowa with Individual Medical (IM) insurance. Blue Cross and Grassley are sweating bullets that their monopoly days may be coming to an end.
Iowa Senator Grassley wants to keep expensive Obamacare “guaranteed issue” mandates in Obamacare that makes insurance cost at least 3 times more. Grassley knows employees won’t spend $1,000 a month to add their families to their employer’s Blue Cross insurance if they can purchase insurance for 1/3 the price in the free and open market. Grassley doesn’t want healthy people getting discounts.
A 30-year-old male and child can get health insurance at DonaldTrumpHSA.com for less than $200 a month. Blue Cross charges taxpayers over $1,200 a month for a State employee to add ONE child. Iowa, do you have the Blues or do the Blues have you? Stop the corruption and drain the swamp!
The reason Iowa has only one insurance company left on the Obamacare Exchange in 2018, Medica, is that no insurance company will enter the market with Guaranteed Issue. Medica said they will stay and has requested a 43.5% rate increase for 2018. Currently, in Ames, Iowa, my home town, a 30-year-old couple and 2 children can get Medica insurance with a $6,400 deductible for $1,112 a month. In 2018 this premium will soar to $1,595 a month or $19,148 a year.
What Grassley doesn’t know is that we can compare low-cost medically underwritten Individual Medical (IM) insurance with Short Term Medical (STM) insurance that became available in 30 States 5 days ago on Independence Day, 2017. The cost for the above family drops from $1,595 a month to $374 a month and the deductible per person drops from $6,400 to $2,500. The savings is $14,652 with Healthy Discounts and low-cost STM that Senator Grassley hates.
Like I said, Grassley and Blue Cross know that nobody is going to pay $1,000 a month to add their families to Blue Cross employer groups if the ability to purchase in the Free and Open Market for 1/3 the price is legal. How does Grassley look in the mirror to shave knowing that because of him young families in Iowa have to over-pay $1,000 a month to Blue Cross of Iowa, a giant government created monopoly, instead of saving for their own retirement?
In 2018, after Republican Health Care Reform, this family will be able to stash $13,300 a year in their tax-free HSA. If this family is in the combined 30% Federal and State Income Tax bracket they will save $3,990 a year in taxes. The annual premium for the low-cost HSA health insurance is $4,488. After the HSA tax savings the net premium plummets, drops, nosedives to $498 per year for this Iowa family of 4. Go look at Grassley’s website today and not one mention of the tax-free HSA, the center-piece of Republican Health Care Reform. Iowa Senator Grassley is riding shotgun for Blue Cross of Iowa and trying to protect their giant government monopoly.
Grassley is so lucky that WHO talk radio doesn’t ask him the hard questions. WHO radio has a Brit who couldn’t understand FREEDOM if it was staring him in the face named Simon Conway letting the Socialists run wild in Iowa. I talked to Simon and asked him why he won’t expose the Socialists? Simon said that he has and that he was so smart on health insurance and he supported Rand Paul’s idea of GROUP insurance and ASSOCIATIONS! Now I’m licensed coast to coast and I know how foolish that is. But, fruitcake Simon Conway in a fit of stupidity says, “I want to get my health insurance from the NRA!”
