1st Impressions of Florida’s Next Governor
I introduced myself yesterday to Adam Putnam and said, “I can help you become Governor.” He looked at me and said, “Really?” I said, “You know how President Trump said he was going to replace Obamacare with Health Savings Accounts?” Adam said, “Yes.” Then I asked, “Do you know that Health Savings Accounts are the center-piece of Republican health care Reform?” Again he said, “Yes.” Then I told him, “I enrolled the first tax-free HSA back when you were in High School.” Adam immediately said, “Where?” He was probably hoping I was going to say Florida but I said, “Nebraska, a 24-year-old male and the premium was $24 a month. After his HSA deposit he saved more in taxes than the cost of his insurance!” Usually people don’t understand what that means but Adam looked at me and said, “Interesting.”
My 1st impression of Adam Putnam was he reminded me of my 3rd grade gym teacher Bill McNeil. That is about as big an honor I can give to anyone. This basically means “Solid.” I just googled Bill McNeil and watched a video and his red hair is gone, because he must be 85-years-old, but he still looks “Solid.” Bill SOLD me on wrestling and I went to the #1 team in the world, at the TIME, on a wrestling scholarship, Iowa State University (ISU). ISU’s Dan Gable, another solid guy, said, “Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.”
I gave Adam a folder with 3 HSA thoughts and a mission statement. The 1st HSA thought was the secret of MSAs in Medicare with an example. I pray that Adam becomes the Florida Governor with his huge VOICE and High Pressures the insurance industry into making the MSA option available to those on Medicare and HSA-Hating AARP loses every single, and very profitable, Medicare Supplement policy that they are earning money on. AARP was and is a big supporter of the nightmare of Obamacare. AARP has always hated the tax-free MSA and HSA. Adam took my folder and we will see if he reads my advice.
The 1st person I met at the event was a school teacher named Tonya. I asked her why she wasn’t a Democrat? She informed me that many teachers are Republican. I asked her how much she was paying for health insurance at the school. Like many employees she didn’t know but she said her husband is covered by his employer and it was just her daughters on the plan. I know the cost and it is $489.60 per month regardless how many children the employee has and of course the insurance MONOPOLY that the school uses is Blue Cross of Florida who gets most of the government contracts. I asked Tonya, “Why do you like Adam?” She said, “I love him. He is a nice guy. He was in my wedding 20 years ago.”
The next person I met was a woman on Medicare paying $500 a month for her and her husband’s Medicare Supplement. I pointed her out to Adam and the MSA Medicare example I gave him has no premium, the government pays 100% of the insurance premium and then deposits $5,040 yearly into the couple’s MSA at the bank. We need to get AARP crying, “The government is paying these seniors cold hard cash to cancel our Medicare Supplement plans, all tax free.” The question to a couple on Medicare is; Would you prefer to pay AARP $6,000 a year OR would you prefer to get $5,000 a year, tax free? That is a swing of $11,000 a year per couple and some seniors would love to make that choice.

Adam Putnam’s speech was very good. Adam talks about prosperity for Florida and he mentions multiple times that Florida has no State Income tax. The tax-free HSA would fit nicely into his speech because HSAs enjoy NO TAXES too. He should slip in “Paradise” and “Palm Trees” because the people up North in the Tax-Me-States love palm trees.
Finally, I talked with Kristin, Adam Putnam’s campaign manager. I told her the mission is to get one Republican politician that could explain Republican health care reform so that other Republican politicians could mimic him. We are looking for someone that the others could be a mockingbird. In Florida you could call it parroting. I explained that the original Obamacare Replacement bill in the House had age-based tax credits and any unused credit is deposited into the tax-free HSA. I explained that a 30-year-old couple with 2 children would get $9,000 in tax credits and they could get HSA Qualifying insurance for about $6,000 in Florida. This means that President Trump will pay 100% of their insurance premiums and then deposit $3,000 in their tax-free HSA at the bank for 1st dollar coverage of medical, vision and dental expenses.” Kristin said, “Shouldn’t we get this information to Marco Rubio?” I said, “If Marco could explain what I just said he would be President today and he isn’t.”
