Tax-Free HSA on the Reagan Station WHO
Ronald Reagan began his career in Iowa as an on air radio personality on WHO Radio in Des Moines. The 1st vote for President happens in Iowa so all Republican Presidential candidates must be interviewed by WHO Radio. For years these candidates were grilled by the ultra-smart Jan Mickelson who always tests the brain power of those seeking the highest office in the land. An unprepared Mitt Romney stumbled into the Jan Mickelson buzz saw and Jan exposed the true nature of Mitt Romney for the world to see. The radio show was being video taped and during a commercial break Mitt Romney told this Iowan, Jan, that he didn’t appreciate him. Jan schooled Mitt Romney and informed him that he knew about the Mormon religion and Mitt lost his cool. You can watch a 20 minute version of Jan teaching Mitt Romney but here is a 2 minute highlight.
The 1st radio show I did on tax-free HSAs was on Jan Mickelson’s radio show in the year 1999 when they were called tax-free MSAs. Jan immediately became an MSA freak and grilled all Presidential candidates on them and taught them what they were. Jan is one reason the tax-free HSA is the center-piece of Republican health care reform today. Unfortunately Jan had a stroke and was unable to grill the last group of Presidential candidates on Obamacare replacement and not one radio talking head asked an intelligent tax-free HSA question during the 2016 Presidential Election cycle. I think talk radio hosts pledge to NEVER mention the FREEDOM of the tax-free HSA.
Jan is back and asked me to explain TrumpCare to his loyal listeners and I did on February 23, 2017. It is a short 1/2 hour show but after the commercials are removed the podcast is just 18 minutes. I start out explaining how goofy Obamacare income-based tax credits are with an example of a 64-year-old couple earning $65,000 a year receives ZERO credits and the cost of their insurance is $1,885 a month with a $6,400 deductible. If they deposit $1,000 into their tax-free HSA their Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) is diminished to $64,000 so they receive $19,584 in Obamacare tax credits to purchase their insurance. Here is the short show on TrumpCare:
I explained the big basic benefits of Republican Health Care Reform. Republican Reform is better than Obamacare. Republican’s age-based tax credits to purchase personal, portable and permanent Individual Medical (IM) insurance is better than Obamacare’s income-based tax credits. Obamacare tax credits are available only to singles earning $12,000 to $49,000. Married couples are cut off at $64,000 earnings. Republican tax credits are age-based so everyone qualifies. The tax credits are less expensive for the Federal Government than the exclusion for employer-based health insurance.
